I wish to voice my outrage and disgust at the recent revelations laid bare in the Ryan Report. As a practicing Catholic, I am ashamed of the abuse carried out by members of the clergy and the subsequent handling of the matter by the church hierarchy. I have tremendous sympathy for the victims of this abuse and hope that they may someday find peace. I call on the church hierarchy to show more compassion to the victims and to genuinely repent for these heinous crimes, not only in word, but in deed.
